Communications and Administrative Assistant
Sarah Friedman graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University in 2015 with a BA in English. She is currently a PhD Candidate in English Literature at The University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she has taught various introduction to literature and composition courses. She is writing her dissertation, which focuses on representations of gender, embodiment, and vulnerability in literary, medical, and historical texts written in late medieval Europe. Prior to starting her PhD, she was a corps member with Teach for America in St. Louis, Missouri, and she worked in recruiting at Ameren Corporation.
In her free time, Sarah enjoys trying new restaurants, exercising, and spending time with her 5-month-old puppy, Penny, who is a shih-tzu bichon frise mix. She is passionate about the intersection of community organizing and social justice and is thrilled to be a part of the JSS team.
