Refugee Resettlement Case Manager

My Name is Abdul Hakeem Hakeemi, from Afghanistan. I am a mid-senior level individual, with a robust background in social work, humanitarian sectors, database and data management. I have navigated a dynamic professional journey since 2008. Commencing my career with the International Relief and Development (IRD) project under USAID, I served in roles ranging from program officer to humanitarian officer, gaining invaluable experience in the field.

I joined the Agricultural Credit Enhancement (ACE) project in 2013, another USAID initiative, where I assumed the position of Value Chain Technical Officer. In this capacity, I played a pivotal role in facilitating the provision of in-kind grants to ACE Clients and agribusiness entities. In 2014, a significant transition took place within the Agricultural Development Fund (ADF), an institution dedicated to revolutionizing Afghan agriculture. Here, I was honored with a prestigious behavioral award for my exemplary conduct and positive influence within the organization.

In addition, I have had the privilege of collaborating with the Hassel Charitable Foundation to support and empower vulnerable communities during periods of crisis and need. In this capacity, my duties have included the provision of direct material assistance, with a particular focus on supplying essential resources such as shelter, food, and clothing, as well as facilitating access to critical medical services.

I have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Nangarhar University in Afghanistan and a Master of Business Administration from Kardan University, also located in Afghanistan.I am fluent in five languages and have a passion for volunteering, traveling, and reading books.

Having recently relocated to the United States with six children and wife, I initially settled in Albina for a month before moving to New York and ultimately establishing roots in Madison, Wisconsin. On December 9, 2024, a significant date etched in my memory, marked the beginning of a new chapter in my life. It was the day I joined Jewish Social Services (JSS), Madison as a Refugee Resettlement Case Manager, a role I embraced wholeheartedly. With a deep-seated passion for aiding vulnerable families and a commitment to assisting refugees in rebuilding their lives, I embarked on this journey with a sense of purpose and determination.

As I navigate this new role at JSS, I am filled with optimism and a profound sense of responsibility. Each day presents an opportunity to make a meaningful impact, to extend a helping hand to those in need, and to be a beacon of hope for the refugees striving to create a better future for themselves and their families. With gratitude in my heart and a renewed sense of purpose, I look forward to the challenges and rewards that lie ahead, knowing that through my work at JSS, I have the privilege of contributing to a cause greater than myself.
