Refugee Resettlement Director

Sunday was born and grew up in Rwanda. Prior to coming to the United States, Sunday helped run study abroad programs focused on genocide, which involved directing some programs, leading peace circles, and helping create curricula. He also worked with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), where he served as a district coordinator working as a liaison between government development programs and the United Nations.

Additionally, he founded his own nonprofit focused on women’s development. Sunday sits on the advisory board of the Ohio Holocaust and Genocide Memorial and Education Commission. Formed in 2021, the commission is charged with gathering and disseminating Holocaust and Genocide information, promoting awareness of these issues, and advising state government officials. Sunday is joining JSS Madison with more than 12 years in social services and he has more than 6 years in leadership and management roles.  Since coming to the United States, Sunday has worked as a case manager and supervisor at a refugee resettlement agency in Columbus, Ohio. Sunday speaks 7 languages and enjoys meeting new people and having coffee.
