Join us for our weekly Lechayim series! Each event begins with yoga from a chair at 11am, followed by a lunch and a wide variety of programming that is different each week. The schedule and menu for this week:

11:00 am -11:30 am: Yoga from a chair
11:00 am -12:00 am: Blood pressure screening with Lori Edelstein
11:30 am -12:15 pm: Smoked BBQ brisket, (Veg option: pesto risotto w/ tofu), roasted potatoes, green beans & three onion sauté, challah rolls, fruit and dessert
12:30 pm – 1:30 pm: Great Midwest Bagel Quest – Jen Rubin

2024 Winter Market

Join us for our winter market! We will showcase the amazing skills of our clients and community members. The market will feature vendors from all over the world, living right here in Dane County. All items are made by hand, including clothing, jewelry, food, toys, and much, much more! Most vendors are cash-preferred.

Purim Celebration at Capitol Lakes

Join us for the annual JSS Purim celebration! We will dress up in costumes and celebrate the holiday with hamantaschen and other festive treats, usually involving a special musical guest. Please join us. No registration required.

Passover Seder at Capitol Lakes

Join JSS for a passover seder at Capitol Lakes! Our Rabbi, Renee Bauer, will lead a full seder in the Grand Hall. All are welcome at this event – the cost for the full luncheon menu includes brisket, matzah and other sides. Register by contacting Capitol Lakes at gcvetkovic@retirement.org or (608) 283-2204. This event costs $25. See the full menu below:

Seder plate, Matzo ball soup, beef brisket, asparagus, caramelized onion demi, potato kugel, and flourless chocolate cake with raspberry sauce. Vegetarian version available upon request.

Hanukkah at Oakwood Village

Join Jewish Social Services as we celebrate the sixth night of Hanukkah at Oakwood Village West! Rabbi Renée Bauer will lead us in lighting the menorah. Family and friends are welcome, and light refreshments will be provided.

Rosh Hashanah Party at Oakwood Village

Come join us for a special Rosh Hashanah celebration at Oakwood Village with Rabbi Renee Bauer and additional JSS staff and volunteers. Family and friends welcome! Light refreshments will be served. No registration is required for this service. We will meet in the Nakoma/Westmoreland Room.

We are also excited to feature Madison area violinist and educator Tina Westphal Thompson for this event. She holds a music degree from UW Madison and plays classical violin and bluegrass fiddle. Her current music projects include fiddler for Annie and the Oakies and violinist for the Yahara String Quartet. She teaches violin from her home on Madison’s east side.

Passover at Oakwood Village

Join JSS Rabbi Renee Bauer, Volunteer Coordinator Paul Borowsky, and Spiritual Care Assistant Kristin Geil for a passover learning event at Oakwood Village! We are excited to feature special guest Cantor David Wallach, who will be teaching us about the story behind passover. We will light candles, say Kiddish, and have passover snacks as well. All are welcome, and no registration required. Please note the Nakoma Room is located in the Heritage Oaks building.
