Sukkot

Holiday structure:

1. First two days – 9/25-9/27: Full holiday days with no work allowed for many observant Jews.
2. Chol HaMoed (intermediate days) – 10/01-10/02: work is permitted but with restrictions.
3. Final day (Hoshanah Rabbah) – 10/02, followed by Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah

Sukkot commemorates the 40 years the Israelites wandered in the desert after leaving Egypt, and it is celebrated with building and dwelling in a sukkah (temporary outdoor shelter).
