Join your neighbors, volunteers, and JSS staff for candle lighting, challah, wine, songs, and discussion to usher in Shabbat, along with the opportunity to recite Kaddish. We celebrate Shabbat at Capitol Lakes on the first Friday of each month, led by JSS Rabbi Renée Bauer. All are welcome; no tickets or registration required. A free and open Rosh Hashana program at Oakwood Village retirement home, led by Rabbi Renee Bauer alongside JSS staff and volunteers. Join us for light refreshments, a short service, and a bit of torah. All are welcome.

- First two days – 9/25-9/27: Full holiday days with no work allowed for many observant Jews.
- Chol HaMoed (intermediate days) – 10/01-10/02: work is permitted but with restrictions.
- Final day (Hoshanah Rabbah) – 10/02, followed by Shemini Atzeret and Simchat Torah
Sukkot commemorates the 40 years the Israelites wandered in the desert after leaving Egypt, and it is celebrated with building and dwelling in a sukkah (temporary outdoor shelter).
